Cochrane Immigrant Services Logo

We support the settlement of newcomers to Cochrane, as well as a celebration of heritage for all Albertans, newly arrived or settled here for generations.

Our Vision

We envision Cochrane as becoming a place where:

All immigrants and newcomers are welcomed, engaged, and can be actively involved in all aspects of community life in Cochrane and Area.

Everyone has access to, and knowledge of the services needed to pursue their goals.

Our Mission

In pursuit of this vision, the purpose of this group is to form an ongoing partnership with new immigrants and newcomers to Cochrane and Area, organizations that serve this population, and community volunteers in order to:

Educate the wider community to the cultural diversity that exists in Cochrane and area.

Facilitate access to services and funding to meet newcomers’ identified needs.

Collaborate with newcomers, service groups, and volunteers to help address gaps in services.

Accumulate data, which identifies needs related to immigrants and newcomers.

Communicate the needs of immigrants and newcomers to community and area organizations in order that they may better serve this population.

Celebrate diversity through events and activities, and invite immigrants and newcomers to get involved.

What We Do

We collaborate with Rocky View Immigrant Services (RVIS), Rocky View Wheatland Local Immigration Partnership (RVWLIP), and local community organizations to link newcomers and immigrants with essential resources and support.

We also prioritize "buying local" when organizing and hosting events like Culture Fest, Newcomer Welcome events, and Fundraisers. We are so fortunate to benefit from the generosity of local Cochrane businesses.

Our volunteer Board Directors, Ambassadors, and team of community volunteers are from diverse cultural backgrounds and help us celebrate multiculturalism in our community all year long.

Late in 2022, we welcomed a half-time Executive Director to our team to support and further drive our efforts in achieving our mission, vision, and goals.
